Words of wisdom from our leader..

Shamelessly stolen from the journal of Ian Parker Joseph:

Somebody once said:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, Glass of wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

HELL YEAH!!

More silly Bleasemen!

Yorkshire Evening Post:

Police are hunting a balaclava-clad robber who held up a security guard in Oakwood, Leeds.

Ah, see, I can see where they're going to struggle here..

He will have taken it off by now..

Sorry, it just made me chuckle as I read it.

Big 'Can't Be Bothered...

Another one from the Yorkshire Evening Post..

WHEN Angela Mannion's house was burgled she was sure the thieves would be caught on CCTV cameras on the street outside her home.
But when she asked police and council chiefs to examine the Leeds Watch camera footage she was told they wouldn't – because the job was too time consuming.

Police told Ms Mannion, 29, the eight hours in which the offence happened would take too long to analyse.

When she contacted Leeds City Council she was told they would only look through one hour of footage.

West Yorkshire Police have now apologised to Ms Mannion.

She said: "I even offered to sit through the tapes myself but they wouldn't allow it.

"There could quite easily be footage of the burglars lugging my TV off up the street but they were not interested. Whoever has done this could be responsible for lots more offences."

The break-in at Bellbrook Place, Harehills, Leeds, took place some time between 3am and 11am on November 29. Burglars stole a 42-inch TV, laptop, digital camera, £350 Christmas cash and the passports of Ms Mannion and her five-year-old daughter Ava.

She added: "The officers said that unless I could pinpoint exactly when the break-in took place there was nothing they could do. That's absolutely crazy.

"I wasn't at home at the time of the break-in. You expect a burglar to target properties when no one is inside so there must be countless other crimes that will also get ignored.

"If this is their policy it is absolute nonsense. It seems pointless spending money on these cameras in the first place if they don't take advantage of them properly."

She added: "To make matters worse, my house insurance had just lapsed, I am still paying for the TV and this week I have been made redundant. It all feels like one massive kick in the teeth,"

Police said a senior officer has contacted the complainant and "expressed our regret in terms of how this incident was handled".

A spokeswoman said: "Following the incident we undertook extensive enquiries to arrest potential offenders and recover stolen property.

"We have agreed a course of action with the complainant to take this investigation forward."

A spokeswoman for Leeds City Council said: "Leeds Watch are not permitted to release CCTV footage to members of the public. All the relevant information regarding this case was provided to the police."

I mean, I can see how the use of our surveilance state system would be wasted on the trivial act of crime prevention, It is after all, only there to make sure that the normal, hard working citizens behave themselves , and do not step out of the party line.
Lazy bastards. Viva la revolution!

How terrible..

Yorkshire Evening Post:

Kidnapper Michael Donovan has been attacked in jail for the second time.
Donovan, who held nine-years-old Shannon Matthews for 24 days in a swindle plot with the child's mother Karen, is in Leeds prison at Armley awaiting sentence.

He suffered a double fracture to his jaw when another prisoner attacked him while he was in jail during the trial.

He was briefly released this week for treatment for the injury.

But on his return to Armley he was attacked again and suffered a bruised face.

Donovan, 40, is being held in Armley's segregation unit, known as "the seg," for prisoners deemed to be at risk of violence from other inmates.

The latest attack took place in the prison's medical wing.

Donovan and Karen Matthews, 33, were found guilty of kidnapping Shannon by a jury at Leeds Crown Court. The court was told they hoped to claim £50,000 from a national newspaper for Shannon's safe return.

Donovan imprisoned Shannon at his flat at Batley, where she was discovered under a bed by police.

Shannon's disappearance led to a massive police hunt backed by local people.

Karen Matthews is being held in New Hall prison at Wakefield awaiting sentence.

Really, how awful.

I love the next part of the article:

What's the weather forecast for Leeds today?

Haha! coincidence, I know, but it just looks like nobody gives a damn out here, in the YEP, or anywhere else!

"So, anyway, what's the weather forecast for Leeds today? "

Where the hell is my mail?!

Where the hell is my mail? It's past half one in the friggin' afternoon, and still no fucking mail!

Seriously? I know they want us to pay extra for having the age old pleasure of reading our post at the breakfast table before work, which in itself is typically greedy, but fuck me..

Honestly.. I remember when you would be getting your SECOND mail delivery at around this time, but nowardays, the lazy, greedy fuckers can't even get the FIRST delivery here before half one..

Fucking greedy, lazy bastards..

Gordon Brown saved the WORLD!

Hat tip to Old Holborn, (As usual!)

Sad thing is, I really do believe that he truly thinks it's the truth, and this was not just a slip of the tongue.

Wanna buy a laptop..?

Okay, I WILL get to my thoughts on the LPUK AGM this weekend, and a few other things I wanted to write about too, but I just saw this, and, well..

Coffee----->Keyboard..

From the
York Press:

A COUPLE are £500 out of pocket after buying a laptop case which was actually full of bottles of pop.

The man and woman were out shopping when they were approached outside the Tesco supermarket at Clifton Moor Retail Park and asked if they wanted to buy a laptop computer.

They told police they had seen the laptop and it was in good condition. The conman even produced a receipt to show it was not stolen.

The couple withdrew the £500 asking price from a cash machine and claimed they saw the laptop being placed in the bag.

But when they got home and opened the laptop bag they found it actually contained three two-litre bottles of fizzy drinks.

Now, I realise, that an awful thing has just happened to them, particularly at this time of year, and in these times, but..

WHAT THE HELL DID YOU EXPECT?!?

I have a bridge for sale if they're interested..
